Today we’ve got a very special guest on the blog today, my very good friend and all around amazing business woman, Annie of Collective Passions! Annie is the brain and creative force behind Fashion Night Out in Portsmouth, NH and it bringing us the inside scoop on the event. Check out the event and photos below!
Hey there! I’m Annie and I’m a life & style blogger over at Collective Passions. I focus on fashion investment pieces that every girl should start to own as they approach 30. My sister Catherine writes about all things fitness and health related. We both have our MBA’s and frequently write about important life or career topics as well. It’s a collective for all the things that we’re passionate about!
I am really excited to be sharing a little bit of New England culture on Kelly’s blog today. I grew up in New York and moved to New England a little over 5 years ago. I live right near Portsmouth, NH which is in the Seacoast area of NH, meaning it is right on the coast between Mass and Maine. Portsmouth is a very artistic and creative place to live; there is a lot of emphasis on supporting local farms, artists, and merchants. Portsmouth was the first town settled in the country back in 1623, so there is a TON of history everywhere that you look from the cobblestone sidewalks, to the brick buildings, to Market Square church.
Fashion Night Out was first started by Vogue Magazine in NYC in 2009 and Portsmouth has been an official participant since 2011. During FNO, locally owned shops present the very best of their new Fall and Winter collections. Red carpets and balloons in front of storefronts signify that there will be wine and cheese, trunk shows, fashion demonstrations, or special sales!
And then finish the night at the Hilton Garden Inn for a Nightcap Party and Fashion Runway Show!
As you can see, you don’t have to be in the big city to enjoy fashion week. I encourage you to get out there and create your own fashion week with friends, family, or even a local boutique! It’s a great way to bring people together over a common love for fashion, creativity, and have some fun!
Big thanks to Kelly for having me today, and I’d love for you to come say hi at http://www.collectivepassions.com
Thank you so much to Annie for showing us how the girls in Portsmouth, NH bring fashion into their lives! I think an event like this is such a great way to showcase local boutiques and designers that you typically wouldn’t have heard about! See, you really don’t have to visit NYC to see fashion and meet designers. For those of us that can’t go to fashion weeks, this is a great way to experience fashion in your own city. Much like our White Haute Nights series, we strive to bring the best boutiques and designers to the people of Charleston to experience their very own fashion week.
I hope everyone has a wonderful Monday and a start to a great week!
