Things are starting to finally cool down here in Charleston and it’s about time! I am definitely a coastal summer girl but my goodness, there’s only so many days of heat and humidity that a girl can take! These 100+ days have been brutal lately and fall is making its gentle way into the city. It certainly helps that Hurricane Matthew swooped in and cooled the city down. Thankfully we were left unscathed but did flee the city like everyone else and quite literally headed for the hills. We headed to Asheville for the weekend and a majority of Charleston was there as well, which was pretty funny! But it was a nice 5 day “hurrication” from work and I came back feeling re-energized and ready to tackle the remainder of the year!
Since Hurricane Matthew, temperatures have certainly dropped around here and I’m so thankful. I’ve been able to slip into this darling trench coat (which I wore every day in Asheville!) and this cute turtleneck dress. This outfit is perfect for those days that you need to run around town or go out with some girlfriends. Let’s just call it, my “fall essentials” outfit which means I’ll be gravitating to these pieces all fall long! I loved how chic I felt as I walked Shaka, my lovable pup, around downtown.
Isn’t she just the cutest pup ever? Talk about an attention grabber too! This sweet girl gets compliments everywhere she goes, and she knows how cute she is! We love taking our long walks around the city and I enjoy the time I spend and bond with her.
But back to the real star here Shaka, this outfit! I love the softer colors and how it just looks like fall is in Charleston! We may be a long ways from coats, scarves, and boots, but until then I am content wearing my cute mini turtleneck dresses and trench coats. I’ve always been a fan of trench coats, they look fantastic with everything and instantly add a certain charm to any outfit.
I can’t wait for those cooler days and nights when I can wear more fall clothing. Until then, I’ll just keep wearing these lightweight and easy to wear trench coats and mini dresses until that day. Although, I’m starting to think that it may not ever happen!
